FPGA / RTL Development

LSF Design brings broad FPGA development expertise to projects involving high-performance interfaces — PCIe, DDR3/4/HMC, multi-Gb/s SERDES — as well as embedded systems, SoC, TDM, and scientific applications.

We are knowledgeable in the unique features of both AMD (Xilinx) and Intel (Altera) technologies, and can apply that experience to design a custom FPGA solution for your application.

Design Verification

Everything starts with the customer requirements. We often make recommendations for the RTL language, toolset, and FPGA vendor — but we're equally adept at fitting into your established methodology. We provide RTL design in Verilog or VHDL, and build verification environments in VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, C, and Python.

In-house, our design flow places a heavy emphasis on verification and RTL simulation. Our philosophy: simulate to the point where we know that when we get into the lab, the design will work as expected. Source control lives in Git on a secure off-site server, backed by issue and bug tracking.

Board / Module Design

LSF Design develops market-ready products for entrepreneurs, startups, small businesses, large corporations, and government agencies — over five hundred products designed to date. Board-level experience spans postage-stamp PCBs with tens of components to blade-class boards with thousands.

Circuit experience includes high-speed LVDS, high-density interconnect, digital, analog, and mixed-signal design, A/D and D/A converters, WiFi and cellular, streaming video, MEMS accelerometers and rate sensors, power-supply subsystems, and optical components.

  • Test fixtures: one-off DUT monitoring and data-gathering rigs — FPGA on a vendor demo board, custom enclosure, power, and correlation software — to help you ramp into production faster

Schematic / Layout

We use PADS PCB in-house for layout, and work with a strong network of PCB layout engineers to meet scheduling demands when necessary.

Cost-sensitive designs. We always consider product cost and balance design decisions against your needs. A product expected to ship thousands of units drives different decisions than a one-time build or a very low production run — either way, we work with you to find the right cost point.

Turnkey Prototyping

Beyond board-level design, we provide a full range of turnkey parts and board-build services. If you need a prototype built — or boards built and screened to order — we can provide a solution that saves time and money.
